Is Dharma your real name?

Yes, my middle name is Dharmashanti. But that’s too many syllables for most people, so I shorten it to Dharma. And yes, I am Buddhist.

Where do you get your ideas?

Everywhere. Sometimes a story on the news will spark an idea. A recent social justice issue. An event from my past. I often joke with my friends that anything you say or do may show up in one of my novels, usually transformed enough to avoid a direct comparison.

Why are so many of your characters LGBTQ+?

I am transgender and am pansexual. A lot of my own friends are also part of the LGBTQ+ community. So it follows that since I write about protagonists who are queer women, a lot of people they interact with are also queer. If that bothers you, my books aren’t for you.

Do you write full-time?

Unfortunately, no. I still have a day job. But maybe one day.

Ordering Books Directly From Me

Is it secure to order books from here?

Yes. Payments are processed via Stripe on a secure page. None of your credit card information is provided to me directly. The only information I get is what is required to fulfill your order (e.g. mailing address, email address, etc.)

Will I be forced to subscribe to your newsletter if I order directly from here?

No. The only way you get subscribed to my newsletter is by choosing to sign up, for example using the form at the bottom of the web pages. Because I have to pay my email service provider based on the number of subscribers, the last thing I want is to have a bunch of subscribers who don’t want to be on the list. So no default opt-ins or any similar shenanigans. Your privacy is important to me.

If I order an ebook directly from you, how do I get it onto my e-reader device (e.g. Kindle)?

I use the BookFunnel delivery system which provides easy instructions for how to sideload your ebook onto your device or app. They also provide a link to help you if you get stuck (which rarely happens).

If I order a signed paperback or hardcover book, how long will it take to get here?

Generally, I will process your order within a few business days. Within the United States, books are shipped via USPS Media Mail, so should arrive in less than a week. Shipments overseas are sent via First Class International Mail and may take a few weeks, depending on the destination.
